Been a while since I posted here
Nov. 13th, 2019 12:47 pmBut let's just put something down that gave me warm fuzzies on this cold day.
Based on a discussion today about stereotypes, gender expression, judgment, observations, behaviors, assumptions, etc. a student from my girls class stayed to talk to me.
She told me how she was questioning her identity and thinking about her attraction to many different kinds of people therefore being pansexual. I told her I knew folks like that and that truly understanding her own self was an important step in life.
She seemed to appreciate that, and I was glad that I could be a supportive individual for her at that moment. I like working in an environment where this is possible and that these conversations can happen. Despite all the awful aspects of this day and age there are some areas that seem to be more positive/improved with the young folks. Of course that depends on your area, race, background, religion, socio-economic status, and things of that nature. I still have a small amount of hope though.
